Brian knew he wanted to be a therapist since he was 14 years old and never looked back, as helping others is his true calling. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Kansas in 2010 and his Master’s degree in Counseling from Arizona State University in 2012.
He spent one year providing individual and group therapy for university students experiencing adjustment, interpersonal, academic and mood issues at ASU Counseling Services in Tempe, Arizona.
He then spent two years providing individual, family and group therapy for at-risk youth experiencing chemical dependency, complex trauma, behavioral disruption, and emotional disabilities, as well as facilitating parent education classes for their parents at The New Foundation, a residential and intensive outpatient treatment facility in Scottsdale, Arizona.
He then spent four years providing individual and family therapy for children, teenagers and families experiencing trauma, mood disorders, behavioral difficulties, and substance abuse issues at Jewish Family & Children’s Service, an outpatient treatment center in Mesa, Arizona. In between his time there, Brian lived in Israel for two years where he also provided therapy for young adult students in yeshiva settings experiencing issues related to mood, stress management and phase of life challenges.
He then spent two years at Longwood Care in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, an outpatient agency providing therapy for adults, children, couples, and families across a wide array of issues including family conflict, mood dysregulation, trauma, and grief and loss.
Prior to beginning his professional career, Brian worked for three years as a volunteer on-the-phone responder providing crisis counseling and safety planning for callers experiencing acute stress and suicidal ideation at Headquarters Counseling Center in Lawrence, Kansas.
Brian is a Torah observant Jew, though he spent most of his life completely nonreligious and secular, and this process has given him the double benefit of relating to individuals across all spectrums of religious and nonreligious life. When Brian is not working, he enjoys connecting with his wife, son, and daughter, reading about spiritual growth and personal development, and watching his favorite sports teams.
